Viázul, the local bus company, is geared towards tourists. Getting around within the various Cuban cities can be done with scooter rentals, horse drawn carriages or in 3 wheel taxi cabs.

When to visit

Travel to Cuba between December -April, after hurricane season, August –November and before the unbearably hot summer months. Cubans take their holidays in July/August, meaning local beaches are crowded. Christmas and Easter are also very busy. Keep a close eye on the arts calendar for festivals/events; baseball fans won’t want to miss the post season from April -May; and political junkies may want to travel to Cuba for Día de los Trabajadores (Labor day; May 1) and Day of the National Rebellion (July 26).
 

Cuban Weather

Cuba has a pleasant subtropical climate with minimal differences in seasonal temperature. The wet summer season is between May -October, the drier winter season is from November - April. Average temperature high 27°C (81°F) in July/August to low 22°C (72°F) in February, with a humidity averaging 80% year round. If you travel to Cuba between December- March be prepared for cooler evenings. A light rain jacket is also a wise precaution any time of year for travel to Cuba.

The ruins of dozens of ingenios (19th-century sugar mills), including slave quarters and manor houses, are scattered throughout this valley. The prime sight is Manaca Iznaga, an estate purchased in 1795 by Pedro Iznaga, who became rich by trafficking in slaves.
