Planning

As a beginner Vegas Insider, your first trip will be full of ideas of things to see and do, but when you arrive that can change. As a Vegas Insider, make sure you check the performer’s schedules before planning your trip. Only book shows in advance if you want to be picky about seating and you know you’ll see them. With so many things to see and do in Vegas, it’s easy to run short on time and miss your show. A Vegas Insider tip: on the south end of the strip, there are discount shops that provide same day show tickets for up to ½ off, adding value and flexibility. Many of the hotels offer free shows starting around 5:30pm running every 1 ½ hour, a good break if you’ve spent your daily budget.
 

Go club hopping as a Vegas Insider, get a Las Vegas VIP package, you’ll beat the line-ups but be aware that not all clubs are open

7 nights. Many are Thurs to Sun. and any that are open during week nights close at 2AM, weekends 4AM.

When traveling as a couple or in groups, grab discount coupon books for each traveler. Exhibits run on average $20-$40, coupon discounts average $2-$5/person with the odd one up to $16 for the Madame Tussauds Wax Museum.
 

As a Vegas Insider, visiting the Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon, is an all dayer, prices can range from $90-$200 or more. If you want to fly over, rides start around $325, a bargain at $275. Take a trip out of the ordinary, the Flamingo offers a day tour to LA, it’s a long drive, 4hrs 1 way, but if you’re looking for an I’ve been there seen that tour of LA’s most famous sights this trip is for you. If you’re up for a little romance, the gondola ride at the Venetian is perfect. We recommend that you go at night, the Vegas lights & private serenade make it spectacular. Average cost is $16 per person if in a group of 4, as a couple’s only, its $30 each, an indoor gondola is also available for bad weather.

Budget

Make sure you bring enough cash for your Vegas Insider budget unless you want to use plastic, package tours to Vegas are flight and hotel, not all inclusive. The cheapest buffets on the strip are between $15-$20/person, prices vary during different meal times. For gamblers on a budget, make a daily allowance, and place it in an envelope for each day. Once your limit is spent, move on to other activities. Best odds are on the card tables. The video slots are cheap but can eat through a pile of money fast. For Vegas Insiders, the cheapest transportation is your feet. Actually dollar for dollar the bus is the cheapest, however walking seems faster, taxis and the mono-rail are quick but more expensive, some hotels have trams to shuttle you back and forth also.
 

Safety

Crime is not overly visible on the strip, be aware of street beggars and peddlers offering free show tickets (they’re not free, there’s a catch) and don’t venture very far off the strip alone.

Don’t drink the tap water; get bottled water (except from room service “expensive”).

If traveling in late fall or winter, bring a light sweater or jacket and proper footwear is a must, no flip-flops or high heels if you plan on doing any amount of walking.
